Authentic product is the result of authentic process.
After 65 years of collaborating with leading outdoor industry manufacturers we recognized that, despite the vast selection and quality of gear available, we still found ourselves searching for the perfect alpine workwear. Traditionally, the development of technical gear is driven by merchant demand, price, trends, and subject to superficial testing. MtnLogic™ flips this standard on its head and starts with an actual need. Our intimate understanding of how gear should function in the field drives our design process. We’ve suffered and cursed through the failure of marginal gear and we just won’t tolerate it. Where most merchants end is where we begin. We are solving problems and building exactly what we need.
As climbers and guides our gear is everything. We work in it, we sweat in it, we suffer in it, and we celebrate in it. The MtnLogic™ philosophy was born from the need to have a system that meets the rigors of our day-to-day work in unforgiving conditions. The collective knowledge our guides have earned on mountains worldwide is the foundation for our process in developing a system that is authentically mountain-crafted. Our guides have been there and have infused their experience into every detail so that, together, we can confidently set foot out of camp and send it. Our work is our process and it’s also our passion. It’s our way of life.
"We’ve suffered and cursed through the failure of marginal gear and we just won’t tolerate it."
Our process is at work on mountains all over the world, but Mt. Rainier in the Pacific Northwest is the heart of our lab. Mt. Rainier is the most heavily glaciated peak in the lower 48, and a training ground for climbers pursuing Himalayan peaks and other challenging objectives worldwide. Its sheer size, terrain and unpredictable weather mimic the conditions found in many of the world’s highest ranges. This is where the authentic development and dynamic testing of our designs occur. We prove the value of every fabric, every feature, and every function that is built into our gear.
Put 60+ mountain guides in a room and ask them what their favorite gear and apparel is. Passion is unleashed. Disagreements are heated. Full agreement rarely happens, but alignment does. We embrace this passion in the form of hands-on, bare-your-gear-soul sessions that uncover genuine need. We align on necessity, function, and performance (and looking good of course). The result is a system founded on the logic that it just does what we need it to do.
